1.535″ Min diameter with ALL ribbing removed. 1.63″ max diameter. You are responsible for making sure your pole fits in this range.
You will lightly hammer this bushing into the flagpole (not included) using a piece of wood and a rubber mallet, it is plastic and it will shave the plastic off the ribs to insure a tight fit. line up the screw hole in the pole with the large tab and screw it in. Please make sure to extend the flag pole section you hammer the bushing into out past the length of the bushing.

There is NOTHING “Universal” about this adapter. The ridges are designed to deal with the imperfections in the manufacturing of the HF pole. Nothing made is the same size, even from item to item. The ridges allow the adapter to custom fit YOUR individual pole. This provides a SUBSTANTIAL strength increase over bushings that drop in. Bushings that drop in rely on the ridge of the adapter, or the single screw. This is not remotely stronger. Buy with confidence.
